Something's Stirring!

All day long today I’ve watched people coming and going from the church campus! Something’s different today. The church office is buzzing. The staff are stirring. People are marching around making plans for the fall!

This is one of my favorite times of the year. With the start of a new school year and the anticipation of cooler weather comes a renewed sense of purpose and anticipation for God’s people.

It reminds me of how the Lord moved in the lives of the people of God in the Book of Haggai. After experiencing a season of drought, the Lord “stirred up” their spirits! As a result, they had a renewed sense of purpose and passion for God.

As the seasons change and we look towards the fall and all of the many wonderful activities and services we have planned including celebrating our 70th anniversary, I am praying that God will stir up our spirits! I am praying that we will make ourselves open and available to the Spirit of God and by doing so that we each might personally experience a renewed sense of purpose and passion for God!

It’s exciting! As fall approaches and we begin a new season of ministry will you join me and make this your prayer?

Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me! Stir my spirit with a renewed sense of purpose and anticipation of who you are and who you are calling me to be. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
