The Church Pianist serves as the primary organist for the church, and works closely with the Minister of Music to provide music of a high quality for the worship services and other special services. The primary roles of the Church Organist are that of musician, worship leader, and staff member.
They shall include but not necessarily be limited to the following:
Provide piano service music for traditional Sunday morning worship services, as well as for extra seasonal worship services.
Accompany the Sanctuary Choir at the piano or organ, as appropriate, in worship and in all rehearsals.
Provide accompaniment for soloists or ensembles when needed and requested; provide music in cooperation with Church Organist, Handbells or other music groups as scheduled for worship services.
Work closely with the Minister of Music to coordinate piano music within the overall music ministry, and to support the overall goals of the music ministry of Forest Hills.
Provide service music for funerals when requested and available. Pay for funerals will be in addition to the regular salary.
Exemplify in your own daily walk the character fitting for one called to the service of the Gospel through the ministry of music.
The Church Pianist is responsible to the Minister of Music for coordination, supervision, and evaluation; personnel guidelines found in the Church Personnel Policies Manual shall apply to this position.
This position includes three weeks vacation; if additional time off is requested, the pianist is asked to work with the Minister of Music to secure a substitute. If more vacation is requested, then the pianist will not be paid for the time missed.
One Week sick leave
Salary is commensurate with experience.
