What is Intersections?
Forest Hills has seen lots of changes over the years, but one of the most significant changes is actually taking place right now. Our neighborhood is growing and changing at a pace we've never seen before. To be the light of Christ to this wonderful neighborhood that we're a part of, we're beginning a new local initiative called Intersections: Bringing Neighbors Together for Good. Through this new ministry, we're focused on building bridges of cooperation and trust between our neighbors, Fred Olds Elementary School, and Forest Hills and to provide engaging opportunities that minister to the needs of our neighbors and community at large.
As part of this effort, we'll be hosting several Intersections events throughout 2018. These events are designed to bring our church family and neighbors together as we seek to do good in our neighborhood, build relationships, and to draw closer to the love of Christ as we do so. Check out our upcoming Intersections opportunities below:
Community Service Day (May 5)
Time (10:00am - 2:00pm) / Location (FHBC)
Volunteer Opportunities & Descriptions
Community Blood Drive (10:00am-2:00pm): Help us support local hospitals and their patients by giving blood anytime between 10:00am - 2:00pm here at the church. **Please note that in order to register to the blood drive, you'll need to both fill out the registration form below AND click here to complete The Blood Connection's online registration.**
Raleigh Rescue Mission "Lunches to Go" Meal Packing (10:00am-11:00am): Join us as we pack 65 bagged lunches which will support the overnight emergency shelter guests who stay at the Raleigh Rescue Mission. In many cases, this may be the only meal that these men, women, and children may receive that day!
Raleigh Rescue Mission Children's Development Center Cleaning (10:00am - 12:00pm): The Raleigh Rescue Mission needs volunteers to clean and sanitize the Children's Development Center and its outdoor playground. This helps to make sure that the center, and it's children, stay happy and healthy during the week! **Volunteers for this opportunity must be at least 10 years old. In addition, volunteers will need to meet at the church at 9:45am on this morning in order to make it downtown by 10:00am**
Welcome House Supplies Drive (10:00am - 2:00pm): We'll be collecting some much-needed items for our refugee friends over at Welcome House Raleigh. The items we'll be collecting are: one-week bus passes, mops and buckets, brooms and dust pans, laundry detergent, and used alarm clocks. By signing up to help with this project, you'll be responsible for collecting and sorting the donated supplies that come in from our church family, neighbors, and others.
Church Cleaning and Landscaping (10:00am - 1:00pm): It's time for some spring cleaning around the church! Lend a hand as we help spruce up our church campus to make it look nicer for our neighbors, guests, and church family.
