2017 Labor Day Family Weekend at Fort Caswell
What's Fort Caswell?
Along the southern coast of North Carolina sits Fort Caswell, a beautiful retreat and conference center operated by North Carolina Baptists. Located at the end of Oak Island (near Wilmington), it's the site of a fort originally built during the 1800's which was used during both the Civil Ware and World War II. Much of the original structure remains and can be explored by visitors.
What's there to do at Caswell?
In addition to the beach and fort remains, there's lot's to do at Caswell! There's tennis courts, a gym, mini-golf, a swimming pool, fishing, and plenty of flat pavement for bike rides too.
What does Forest Hills do at Caswell during this weekend?
This is an opportunity to spend the traditional holiday weekend in a relaxed setting with a focus on Christian fellowship and building relationships with friends - old and new - of all ages. Families, singles, couples - all are welcome. Following a day of recreation of many types, we will gather in a retreat setting Saturday evening to focus on God's word. Tyler Ward will lead this session as well as Sunday morning worship. Sunday afternoon is free time followed by an optional Labor Day Monday of fun in the sun.
Cottages have 6-10 bedrooms. Most bedrooms have two double beds. Some have one double bed. Some have a set of bunk beds. You will need to bring your own linens and you'll know your bedding configuration well in advance. Some cottages have kitchens for storing soft drinks.
Dinner Friday is on your own as arrival times vary greatly.
Breakfast is provided on Saturday (traditional Caswell Breakfast Casserole) and Sunday (Pancakes).
Lunch is also provided on Saturday and Sunday. Sandwiches can be packed for the beach if you like.
