Reception for Doug Thompson
Dear Forest Hills Family and Friends,

As you know Doug Thompson has accepted the call to serve as Music Minister at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, NC beginning April 7, 2013. Doug began his ministry at Forest Hills nearly six years ago and has touched each of our lives in so many ways through his leadership during worship services and other music and ministry activities.

You are invited to a church wide reception to honor Doug and Sharon on Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the Dining Hall.

If you would like to contribute to a Love Offering for Doug, please mail or bring a check payable to Forest Hills Baptist Church to the church office no later than Wednesday, April 10. Please write on the memo line: "Love Offering for Doug Thompson".

We look forward to seeing you and celebrating Doug's Ministry.

Evening with Friends
Evening With Friends was a huge success this past Saturday and raised over $13,000!  How will this money be spent?  To subsidize out of state and foreign mission trips.  To pay for local mission experiences.  To offer need-based financial aid for youth events so all students, regardless of means, may participate.  These are only a few ways in which Evening With Friends benefits our church, our city, and our world.  Thanks to all those who participated whether through purchasing tickets, making a donation, or volunteering their time.  May Evening With Friends be a model for the church:  a time and place where all gather mutually to benefit one another by both supporting and enacting Christ's Great Commission.

Update from the Staff Leadership Implementation Team
The Staff Implementation Team composed of representatives from IST and Personnel is continuing its work to bring a recommendation forward to the church at a future conference. The team has been incorporating the feedback received from the church Q&A sessions to deliver a future recommendation that addresses the points below.
1) Provide more definition for the Seek, Serve and Share Associate Pastor job descriptions, as well as future staff roles.
2) Establish stability for Forest Hills Baptist Church in the routine functions and services found within our church during the time of transition to a new Senior Pastor.

New Website and Social Media Policy
The Leadership Team recently approved a new website and social media policy. The primary purpose of this policy is to do all we can to be good and positive witnesses to the Good News of Jesus Christ through electronic media. In very basic terms, the policy limits placing pictures of adults with their full names on the website and social media without their written permission. The policy is even more restrictive, as you would expect, regarding minors. We currently are working to bring our practice in line with our policies. Please help us by completing the appropriate forms that you will be seeing.

Steeple Repair
Steeple repair is scheduled to begin Tuesday, April 2. These repairs will take several weeks to be completed. We ask for your patience during this time of much-needed repair. Be on the lookout for future updates.

The Gathering Place Capital Campaign
We are pleased to announced that the church in conference on Sunday approved moving forward with a capital campaign to raise approximately $350,000 for The Gathering Place, the official name for the planned renovation of the library and office area into a welcoming place for us to gather, have fellowship and build community. There will be a luncheon on April 21 to kick-off the fundraising campaign. However, between now and then we are conducting a "silent campaign," with the hope of raising a good portion of the funds needed before the official kick-off. If you would like to help get this exciting  campaign off to a strong start, please contact Dora Cornwell or Duff Freeman.
