FHBC Children Help at the Yard Sale

FHBC children, parents & lead team members enjoyed sharing doughnuts, cookies, brownies & drinks with fellow church members working at the church as well as our visitors who came to find treasures in our yard sale. They accepted donations and were able to collect around $100. The kids were also able to help in the yard work and cleaned up flower beds, planted flowers and helped to clean up the playground. It was an all around effort and thank you to everyone who participated. It was a beautiful day of work, making new friends and fellowship together!

Yard Sale Reaches Out to the Community!

This past Saturday, we had a successful yard sale, not so much in money made, but in outreach. We found that 80-90% of the people attending came from the community, not from church members.  That is outreach-big time!  One person asked if we could make this an annual event.  Well, we could do that if the Sunday School would be willing.   I understand the money collected was $1300.00, and that will be donated to The Gathering Place.  In my ESL/Bible Fluency class, I had a participant thank me for telling him about things like the WRAL gardens and especially the Yard Sale. He stood up and showed off his nice new shirt, for $1.00, and his new pants for $4.00.  He was so pleased. Many thanks to all the FHBC volunteers and donors. Your contributions of items and time were well spent. A special thanks to the Children's Ministry for their contributions. So, again thank you SS council:  Hamlin Landis, Debbie Capps, Bobby Vick and Tom Bowers.

-Glenda Reece, SS Council staff liaison.

The Sunday Security Team is in need of several volunteers.  This team patrols the church and parking lots each Sunday morning to secure safety and security during worship.  Security members are trained in CPR and defibrillator usage.  If you are interested please contact Hamlin Landis.

"Song of Alaska" series by Tracie Peterson

Dawn's Prelude

Newly widowed Lydia Sellers discovers that through an unforeseen fluke, she is the sole recipient of her husband's fortune. But instead of granting her security, it only causes strife as her adult stepchildren battle to regain the inheritance for themselves. Lydia, longing to put the memories of a painful marriage behind her, determines to travel to Alaska to join her aunt

Morning's Refrain

As dark family secrets threaten the tranquility of the life he's come to love, Dalton Bjorklund must make difficult choices about the future. To complicate matters, Phoebe Robbins falls into his life quite literally when Dalton rescues her after she falls overboard in the Sitka Harbor. He quickly loses his heart.

Twilight's Serenade

Britta Lindquist left Sitka six years ago in an attempt to distance herself from the love of her life, Yuri Belikov. Upon her return, she finds Yuri absent and his wife about to deliver a child. When tragic circumstances ensue, Britta suddenly finds herself caring for Yuri's children--and her life intertwining with the man she's tried so hard to forget.

You may find all three books in the "Song of Alaska" series (Dawn's prelude, Morning's refrain, and Twilight's serenade) in your Media Library at the corner.
