A Message From Wendy

Please continue to send Facility Requests to don@foresthills.org. We are checking this email daily; however, we ask that you allow a few days to process your request. Also, please continue to use the Calendar Request and Work Request forms on the church website. Thank you.

Office/Receptionist Volunteers

Do you enjoy talking on the phone? Do you like pushing people's buttons? If so, you are the perfect candidate to help in the Church Office! Dr. Westbrook would like to assemble a team of volunteers to help out in the Church Office for just a couple of hours a few days each week. Responsibilities include answering the phone, taking messages, and unlocking the door for visitors. Exact times and days are still to be determined.

If you are interested in leading and organizing this team or just helping out, please contact Dr. Westbrook directly, either by phone or email. Your willingness to help out, even for just two hours per week or month, will make a tremendous impact.

City of Oaks Marathon - Water Station

FHBC will again be supporting a water station for the City of Oaks Marathon on the morning of November 2nd. If you are interested in helping to serve the runners of our community and spending a couple of hours with your friends in a relaxed atmosphere, contact Donald Griffith to sign up. Also, look here for more information on how to get to the church that morning, as the two primary entrances to our parking lot will not be available during the race.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

The Sanctuary Choir has begun rehearsing its Christmas music. If you love to sing, but can't make a full time commitment to the choir, or you would like to just try us out, now is the perfect time to come sing with the choir! Rehearsals are every Wednesday from 7:00-8:15 p.m. in the music suite. All are welcome, and no audition is needed!

FHBC 2015 Resource Planning

The Deacons, Councils, Committees, and Staff are in the middle of the resource planning process, to develop the Resource Plan for 2015. As part of this process, there will be two Information Sessions to provide early visibility of the proposed plan. These sessions are designed for the draft plan to be presented and an
opportunity for the congregation to provide feedback.

Information Session I - Wednesday, Oct. 8th, at 7:00 p.m.
Information Session II - Sunday, Oct. 19th, at 5:00 p.m.

Regards,
Tom Revak, FHBC Deacon Chair

Teachers Needed!

All preschoolers and children through 5th grade promoted to new classrooms on Sunday, August 24th. It was a very exciting day, and we are thankful for all of our Sunday School teachers! However, there is still an URGENT need for 3 preschool teachers on Sunday mornings:

Please prayerfully consider teaching in one of the above classrooms. If you are interested or have questions, contact Susan Wray or Mary Weaver.

International Ministry

International Ministry Update

"We do not have a plan yet, we do not know which way to turn..." This was the response of the majority met at the Palms Apartment Housing Fair last week. Highland United Methodist Church and Forest Hills partnered to sponsor this event, and youth groups and multiple wonderful volunteers participated. A wholehearted THANK YOU, to all who prayed and took part in connecting and learning how we can help our neighbors!

More than 160 people attended, and 150 people from 12 countries (Algeria to Vietnam) signed-up for additional help with moving, planning, apartment searching, and school enrollments. Last Monday, Team Leader Buck Goode and Donna from HUMC began meeting with residents at the Palms to discover individual needs, and already one family has received assistance moving. You can still help, contact Buck or Jason for more information.

God is moving us as we help in practical ways, building relationships that lead to spiritual fruitfulness. It is exciting to join God where He is at work in our community!
