Note From Personnel Committee
Through a search and interview process led by the Facilities Management Committee working with the Personnel Committee and presentation to the Diaconate, Forest Hills Baptist Church has hired Ben Kaplan of Chapel Hill, formerly of New York, as our Director of Facilities. Ben has an Associate's Degree from the College of Staten Island in Operational Management and more than 20 years experience in managing facilities. His former duties have included the proper maintenance, upkeep and presentation of a portfolio of commercial and residential properties and facilities as well as overseeing a janitorial staff. Ben's skills and experience include basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and general repair work as well experience in the maintenance of grounds. Ben was selected from a number of qualified and interested candidates and we are excited that he has joined us at Forest Hills. Please welcome Ben to our church family when you get a chance.

Creating Warmth For Children: Nov. 1
Join us as we create no-sew fleece blankets for children served by area organizations. No sewing or creative skills are required! Each participant will be responsible for providing their own material and scissors. The blankets require 1.5 yards each of two coordinating fleece fabrics. We will have an informational and instructional period starting promptly at 10 a.m. in the Gathering Place, then move to other rooms to create the blankets. City of Oaks Marathon - Water Station
FHBC will again be supporting a water station for the City of Oaks Marathon on the morning of November 2nd. If you are interested in helping to serve the runners of our community and spending a couple of hours with your friends in a relaxed atmosphere, contact Donald Griffith to sign up. Also, look here for more information on how to get to the church that morning, as the two primary entrances to our parking lot will not be available during the race.
2014 Fall Bazaar
Join us Friday, November 14, 10 AM - 6 PM and Saturday, November 15, 9 AM - 2 PM and start your Christmas shopping at our annual Fall Bazaar! We will have 33 vendors selling local handcrafted items, so you are sure to find the perfect gift! Proceeds raised from this event will benefit two Forest Hills ministries - Arty Party and Needles and Prayers.

Women on Mission Luncheon Meeting
Attention all women! Come hear Kim Wyatt speak on "The World Has Come to North America". Kim and her husband Marc have recently been assigned as CBF Global Missions Field Personnel-Advocates for Internationals: RTP. Meeting will be in the dining hall at 11:30 am, Tuesday, Nov 4. Lunch will be $5.
Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network
It's time again for us to show our hospitality to the families being served through the Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network, an organization of area churches pulling together to support homeless families that are determined to be self-reliant again. We will partner with West Raleigh Presbyterian Church during the week of November 2-9. Meals, van drivers, and overnight hosts are needed, as well as abled bodies to help with bed set up and breakdown, just as in times past.

Donuts With Mr. Tyler
The Forest Hills Children's Ministry and Deacons' Family Ministry Team invite children K-5th grade to Donuts with Mr. Tyler on Sunday, November 23rd from 9:30-10:00 AM. This event will be held in the Adventure Room o the Children's Hallway across from the Dining Hall. Please join us for a time of fun so that you can get to know Mr.Tyler. Stop Hunger Now: December 3
Join us for a Stop Hunger Now meal packaging event. There will be a hotdog supper at 5 p.m., and packaging will being at 6 p.m. Once again we will be coordinating our efforts with our neighbors at Fred Olds Elementary School to package 20,000 meals! Each meal costs $0.25. Save your spare change during the week and drop it in the money jug in the Gathering Place on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings. Checks should be made out to FHBC with "Stop Hunger Now" in the memo line. Contact Buck Goode (919-949-9550) if you have any questions.
Get In The Fast Lane!!!!
All racers are urged to save the dates of February 27-28, 2015, for the Church-Wide FHBC Pinewood Derby weekend. This will be a church-wide event for all interested in participating in what has been a much loved Royal Ambassador tradition for many years. The 2015 race weekend will include two division races that will allow anyone to participate, regardless of age, gender, or experience. No driver license required!
Friday night, February 27 -- Division 1 -- RAs/GAs (Kindergarten through 5th grade)
No entry fee charged for the RAs/GAs race on Friday night.
Saturday morning, February 28 -- Division 2 - Church-Wide FHBC Pinewood Derby for Youth (6th through 12th grades)/Adult/Family/Alumni
Grand championship runoff (following church-wide race with winners from both division races)
The church-wide race will be a fundraiser for community missions that benefits Fred Olds Elementary School. The fee schedule for this division will be as follows, which includes the kit and supplies necessary to construct a car:
$25 - 1 car
$40 - 2 cars
$50 - 3 cars
Registration will occur in November so that car kits can be ordered in time to permit distribution in early January. More information and details will be forthcoming over the next few weeks.

Audio/Visual Volunteers Needed
AV Volunteers help Sunday services and events at Forest Hills run smoothly. Volunteers do not need experience with AV equipment, but it is a plus! We'll make sure you're trained in everything you need to know.
Duties: Sunday worship service duties: set up and run audio equipment; operate presentation software, video switcher, and video camera for display of worship slides, sermon videos, and other media needs.
Time Commitment: Sundays, 1-2 hr./week; Twice a month

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!
The Sanctuary Choir has begun rehearsing its Christmas music. If you love to sing, but can't make a full time commitment to the choir, or you would like to just try us out, now is the perfect time to come sing with the choir! Rehearsals are every Wednesday from 7:00-8:15 p.m. in the music suite. All are welcome, and no audition is needed!

Hallelujah for International Kids Team!
The International Ministry is singing hallelujah and praising the Lord for His provision Jane Stokes, Charlotte Holmes, and Liz Phelps, our new International Kid's Team! Each Wednesday night from 7:00-7:45pm, after the usual Wednesday night children's activities close, our Kids Team spends time with the international kids while their parents finish English classes. God has truly supplied these three ladies to meet a need on Wednesday night! Thank you God for Jane, Charlotte, and Liz! The International Ministry is able to reach more families by providing opportunities for children to participate in RAs, GAs, Mission Friends, and more on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. Thank you!

Overnight to Myrtle Beach
The Forest Hills Adult Ministry will join the Movers & Shakers of Hayes Barton Baptist Church on an overnight adventure to Myrtle Beach on November 17-18. The trip will include a dinner on Monday night, breakfast and lunch on Tuesday, a stay at the Hilton Kingston Plantation, a show at the Alabama Theater, baggage handling, and transportation on a deluxe motorcoach with a professional driver.
The cost is $130 per person for a double room or $170 for a single. To reserve your spot on this trip, return a registration form to John and Dora Cornwell or to the Church Office.
