Trunk Or Treat Was A Big Hit!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered at our Trunk or Treat! This event would not have been possible without those who sponsored a trunk, entered chili in the cook-off, helped in the kitchen, directed traffic, and more. We had about 125 children and youth come through our parking lot, including Forest Hills families, friends of FHBC members, families from Connections Preschool, and visitors from the neighborhood. Thanks for helping us be good neighbors and reach out to our community!
Come start your holiday shopping with us! With 30+ vendors of handcrafted items & a few direct sales companies you are guaranteed to find the perfect gifts for those on your list. You'll also want to enjoy some treats at the Forest Hills Cafe. Admission is free!
Your help is needed for the Fall Bazaar! Visit here to sign up for volunteer opportunities.

Last weekend the International Ministry visited beautiful Blowing Rock and experienced God through marveling at the wonders of His creation. We were humbled to know that the Lord God Almighty has revealed His thoughts to us! People from China, Brazil, Honduras, India, and Iran built friendships while exploring the foggy, busy streets of Blowing Rock, Moses Cone Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and even while relaxing at the beautiful conference center. God was with us as seeds were planted. Thank you for your prayers, and for helping to water these seeds of the Gospel.
We are already preparing in advance for the Spring Trip to the beach, and you could help water seeds by coming with us! Van drivers are needed. Please pray about driving a van and coming with us May 13th-15th, 2016.
Can you believe it? The Christmas season in once again rapidly approaching, and we will soon be seeing decorations for this special time of the year appearing before our eyes! But those decorations don't just magically pop up like they seem to do in the Christmas movies! It takes many hands and hearts to set up the decorations across the church. The Seek Council is looking for those with a "decorative gift" to help set up the decorations the first part of Thanksgiving week just before the start of the Advent season. Please let Curtis Weaver or Joy Phillips know if you would be willing to help decorate for the season. The more, the merrier! For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do you have an unused bookcase or set of chest of drawers? Both these items would be of great assistance to a family that the Children's Essentials ministry is serving. Contact Sandra Haskins if you have one to donate.
Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network
Would you like to make a difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness? The Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network is looking for volunteers to handle 3-hour volunteer shifts at the welcome desk on Saturdays and Sundays. This opportunity is not labor intensive, but is very important to the work of WIHN. Email Andrew for more information.
Harvest Sunday We will continue our Forward In Faith campaign with a special worship emphasis and sermon series entitled, "A Season of Giving Thanks." The series will culminate on Sun, Nov 22 with Harvest Sunday, when we will have a Service of Giving Thanks in both worship services. On that day, we would like to ask you to prayerfully consider your commitment to Forest Hills for 2016. Commitment cards have been mailed out to members and will be presented on that Harvest Sunday during the service.

Forest Hills' own Boy Scout Troop 207 is selling greenery again this year. For many years, the troop has donated wreaths to the church to decorate our church for Advent. There are four sizes of wreaths available for pre-order, ranging in price from $10 to $40. There is also a beautiful mixed wreath with pinecones for $20 and Fraser fir and pine roping. Forms are available in The Gathering Place. Please see Alex Hibbs or Matthew Broniak to place your order by Nov. 22. Greenery will be delivered the first weekend of December.
Operation Christmas Child
Forest Hills is participating in Operation Christmas Child again this year. Last year we filled 330 shoeboxes with small gifts for needy children around the world. This year our goal is 400 boxes. Please pick up boxes and brochures from one of our displays in The Gathering Place or the Fellowship Hall. Please return filled boxes to the Conference Room or the table in the back of the Fellowship Hall by Sunday, November 22nd. This is a wonderful tradition for our church, and we hope you will join us this year in sharing Christ's love with children who have so little that a shoebox means a lot. For more information, contact Cheryl Hibbs or Charlotte Holmes.
